Volcom is not only a clothing designer but also a marketer and distributer of youth sports clothing, footwear, accessories and related products. As well as this they also endorse professional sports stars as well as owning skate parks. Volcom Clothing includes the Volcom Snow, Stone, Girls, Organic and Creedler ranges all of which consist of the typical Volcom t-shirts, jeans, jackets, sweatshirts and hooded sweatshirts. The new Autumn/Winter ‘08 collection is sure to fly off the hangers with great clothing like the Neck Gator Snood, Neuron Bobble beanie hats, Jamie Lynn Pro Shell Snowboard coat and accessories such as the Volcom Organic V Co sock, which is made from organic fabrics. Although Volcom are thought of as a surf wear brand, they are really more of a urban streetwear clothes brand.  They use similar street art techniques that street artists use.  For this reason you often find that Volcom clothes have graffiti designs that seem like they have been sprayed straight on to the shirt using a can of paint.

Vans Shoes have unveiled their range of Bad Brains clothing and shoes. For those who don’t know Bad Brains were a hugely influencial hardcore punk band from Washington DC. They have inspired the likes of the Beastie Boys, No Doubt, RHCP and even Black Flag with ther brand of thrash, reggae and funk riffs.

The Vans range of clothing features streetwear designs inspired by the bands artwork.  The range set to be released in Spring 2009 features Vans hi-tops, chukkas and old skool sneakers with logos from the bands early albums and t-shirts featuring the band themselves.

We are big fans of Brooklyn based ladies streetwear company SWNDL.  They produce some fine designs in some fine colours.  Check out these:

Having grown up in Southampton I’ve known about the Addict Clothing brand for a while now.  I have been down to the Addict Clothing Co warehouse sales on a small industrial estate near to St Mary’s stadium and remember me and my friends scrambling through the bargins in the hope they had the tees and jackets we wanted in our sizes.  There was always something unique about their designs and the fact that they did limited edition tees that would come in a box made their tees seem like so much more than just a t-shirt.  It’s safe to say I’m a fan.

Paul Frank and Julius the monkey are a favourite here at Branddead so here is a little bit of information on Paul Frank Industries.

Paul Frank industries have established themselves as the top producer of colourful accessories and characters.  Paul Frank began in the 90’s when he studying art at college in California.  He began designing and making wallets out of vinyl in between lectures with basic animals on them.  When he started  giving the wallets to his close friends as gifts, they loved them and especially the monkey character known as Julius who featured on many of the designs.  His new found success inspired Paul Frank to begin making a range of accessories and clothing.  10years later Paul Frank had firmly established himself as a leading clothing manufacturer with world wide distribution including stores in some of the biggest cities in the world.  Julius has now been joined by a full range of Paul Frank characters including Ellie the Elephant, Aku the Crocodile and the Cosy Molars.  Now that Paul Frank has established themselves they now produce everything from Julius key rings and underwear to Paul Frank pyjamas and t-shirts.
